I am so very happy for you guys...This is one of the few photos we had the chance to take.
The weather was sunny ..in fact I would say extra-sunny...We had an excellent lunch and a wonderful afternoon party.
Later, we went to TAPAS in order to celebrate in a more informal way...We had a lot of fun!!

Ecuador vs Japon

Por fin tuve la oportunidad de ir al partido de futbol entre Ecuador y Japon. Fue realmente un largo viaje...tomo 3 horas llegar y 1 hora y media hasta que pudimos entrar al estadio.
Hacia bastante frio pero una vez dentro del estadio todo estuvo bien. Me la pase super bien aunque mi corazon divivido entre 2 paises...Ecuador y Japon. Creo que hubieron unos 20 ecuatorianos en total.
El regreso fue peor!! Muchisima gente, muchisimo trafico...finalmente llegue a mi casa a las 2 y media de la manana.

Comida Ecuatoriana

Tuvimos una comida ecuatoriana el Domingo 5 de este mes. Lo pasamos. muy pero muy bien...Comence a cocinar desde el Sabado por la tarde...ya que el Sabado por la noche tenia una fiesta de despedida del ano lectivo en YMCA.

La fiesta comenzo a las 12:30 con el arrivo de Shinya y su novia..luego llegaron Kumi y asi aumentaron el numero de personas que vinieron. El clima fue bueno...aunque temieramos que lloviera...no fue asi.

Lleve los DVDs de salsa y merengue que tenia y los puse pero ese mismo dia Japon jugaba contra Corea en el beisbol por eso como a las 2 cambiamos el canal y nos pusimos a ver como Japon apabullo a Corea en las semifinales del Mundial de Beisbol.

Por la noche lavamos los platos, regrese a casa y me fui directamente a la camita...creo que en 2 dias solo habia dormido unas 4 horas..mi cuerpo pedia cama y cai cual piedra.

Quiero agradecer a la gente que vinieron...Muchas gracias, espero que les haya gustado y espero que volvamos a hacerlo en un futuro cercano.

World Baseball Champions

What a great feeling! This championship reminded me my time in Canada when I used to follow the TORONTO BLUE JAYS very closely.
But this championship is way bigger than that. Just think about it, the first Soccer Champion was ..Uruguay ( any soccer fan knows this ) and now the first BaseballChampion is Japan.
Here in Kumamoto, people were on the streets...just like in Ecuador and watched an exciting game where Cuba played with a lot of courage and Japan played calmly and intelligently.
ICHIRO was the MAN of the game ..his experience was fundamental for the Japanese team to reach the finals...to tell you the truth..I didn't like him, because he was very, very cool...but during this tournament he was different....He laughed, cried...even say fOOk a couple of times...something very rare...
I am really happy for all the Japanese players...BANZAI!!!BANZAI!!!BANZAIII!!!

Dos modelos..y medio

Este fin de semana nos tomamos unas fotos en Wonder City que es un lugar que queda cerca de mi casa. No nos habiamos tomado fotos nuestras y del bebe que viene en camino por eso decidimos hacerlo.

Carros...Delirios de un hombre -Kumamoto Motor Show-

El fin de semana pasado fui a la exibicion de autos en Kumamoto. Tuve la oportunidad de subirme en un Porche que costaba en 10.000.000 yenes. El unico problema a mas del precio es que como es un coche deportivo ...es muy dificil ver adelante del coche...No se como la hacen pero debe ser la costumbre de manejar que les ayuda a entender cuan largo es el carro.

The girl that you see in the picture guides it with her two hands...there is no steering wheel, brakes..nothing everything is done with the movements of her hands... I really do not know if the right hand was the steering wheel or the accelerator...
Yet I believe it was quite futuristic and at the same time environmentally clean.

And this is ASSIMO. This is Honda's famous robot. I have seen it on TV but this is the first time that I have the chece to see it live. Its movements are kind of cute and if you look carefully ASSIMO was dancing along with the girl in the back.

People were taking photos like crazy...This is my best shoot of ASSIMO.

A nice afternoon in Techno research Park

Last weekend my wife and I went to Techno-research Park. It is a place north of Kumamoto. We had a wonderful picnic and after that we took a walk. She is pregnant ( almost 7 months ) so the doctor recomend her to exercise often. I have no time to be with her during the weekdays but last Sunday we spent quality time together.
If you come to Kumamoto and want to practice sports, read a book or just take a walk I do recomend you this place...

Sones de Oriente

Este fin de semana tuve la oportunidad de estar en el concierto de SONES DE ORIENTE en Latinos.

El concierto estuvo super super bueno. Me la pase super bien y MAKOTO quien es el cantante principal de la banda.






Yo he visto muchos conciertos de grupos japoneses que cantan en Japon..pero quizas Sones de Oriente y en especial MAKOTO habla y pronuncia perfectamente el espanol.


La musica fue un deleite de canciones cubanas que iban desde el SON hasta el Cha Cha Cha





Los miembros de la banda, todos muy buenos, la guitarra..el bajo y el violin..
Tanto fueron las emociones y las ganas de tocar que hasta una cuerda de la guitarra se rompio de tanto darle.
El violin fue fenomenal...nunca habia pensado que un instrumento tan pequeno y que generalmente se usa en la musica clasica me haya hecho bailar tanto.
El bajo con su irremplazable sonido hizo vibrar el corazon y el piso del restaurante.


Makoto, el lider de Sonos de Oriente que con su voz hizo deleitar a los presentes.

Su sonrisa a flor de piel y su apegado montuno..me hizo bailar la mayor parte de la noche.

Una persona humilde que nunca dijo no a nadie ni a nada se gano mi admiracion.

Espero que vuelvan a Kumamoto a deleitarnos con su musica.

Frio...frio..frio

Frio..Frio este invierno hace mucho frio...El otro dia cuando trate regresar mi bici estaba enterrada en nieve!! En 10 anos viviendo aqui es la primera vez que me pasa esto.
Al parecer, al norte de Japones es aun peor, en una noche solamente nevo 3 metros...increible. Parece que este invierno sera cosa seria por aca.

Para Fin de Ano estuvimos en casa...fue un Fin de Ano muy tranquilo asi que me la pase en casa viendo television y engordandome.
Salimos el 3 para Aso, una montana cercana de Kumamoto...hacia mucho frio, tanto que me recordaba el tiempo en que estuve en Canada.
Espero que este ano este lleno de bendiciones, buenas cosas y mucha suerte.

I spent Christmas in Fukuoka. This a photo of my niece and my wife. Isn't she cute?!
I haven't seen her since she went to Ecuador, she's all grown up, now she can walk and that was something new for me.
We went window shopping and that was a challenge..she started to walk everywhere and I had to chase her...tired ...very tired...

The German government has condemned the remarks by Iran' s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and called on the United Nations' as well as the EU to follow suit. Berlin says the comments will also weigh on talks over Tehran's disputed nuclear program. The EU summit beginning Thursday in Brussels will address Ahmadinejad's statements "also at our urging," Steinmeier said in the German parliament. The remarks showed "with how much irresponsibility and cynicism the Iranian government currently regards the situation of Israel' and the Near East."
"I say again: the government in Tehran must understand that the patience of the international community is not endless," Steinmeier said.
Germany, along with France and Britain, has been leading diplomatic efforts to allay fears over Iran's nuclear intentions. Later this month, Iran is due to resume negotiations the issue with envoys from the three countries.
Ahmadinejad first provoked an international outcry in October when he called for Israel to be "wiped off the map." He then expressed doubt about the Nazi destruction of European Jewry during World War II and went further Wednesday — saying that the Holocaust is a "myth" that Europeans have used to create a Jewish state in the heart of the Islamic world.
Denying the Holocaust is a crime in Germany.

I wonder HOW MANY WARS HUMANS HAVE TO FIGHT IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE BROTHERS AND SISTERS....

Aunque no es comun en el sur de Japon tener nieve, parece que este ano va a hacer muchichichisisisisimo frio. Estamos aun a mediados de Diciembre y ya hace el frio de Enero o Febrero.
Yo siempre ando en bibicleta...ya se pueden imaginar el frio que me da al salir y andar en bici.
Esta foto es del norte de Japon en donde ha nevado a montones haciendo imposible manejar los coches, subirse a los trenes y algunos vuelos han sido cancelados...Vamos a tener que abrigarnos un poquito mas esta noche antes de dormirnos....

Espana

Perdon por la ausencia. Este bendito clima que siempre le hace dano a mi garganta. Ayer me dio gripe y dolor de garganta por eso me fui rapidito a la cama.
But today I am very happy because one of my students who went to Spain for a week, returned and brought me some spanish instant food and a cool calendar.
I have never been to Spain but she told me something very interesting, she was trying very hard to understand people from Barcelona...she studies Spanish but she didn't have a clue of what they were talking ...until she realized that what they were speaking was Catalan...
And another thing a lighter in South America is called encendedor, in Cuba fosforera and in Spain fuego...I checked the dictionary and it seems that encendedor is the correct word.

A normal day! Un dia sin mayores cambios. Bueno solamente uno, un companero de trabajo que se llama Beat tuvo un accidente de transito. Tiene fracturado un hueso en el hombro y varias semanas de recuperacion. Me sorprende mucho por que a el le gusta andar en bici..Si no me equivoco ha subido como 50 veces una montana que queda cerca de aqui! Pero asi es la vida...espero que se recupere lo mas pronto posible.
